Summer Trips

Hey everyone,

Sorry this has been so long in coming, but it feels like I have been away for a month as I have done 3 trips in 5 weeks. All of our trips are over now so I figured that I would give you an update on each...

New Wine USA

This was an excellent weekend in Statesville, North Carolina. For those of you who have done Soul Survivor or New Wine int he UK it is basically the same thing. St Andrews, our neighboring Episcopal Church has been chosen to head up New Wine in the States, and this was the second year that they had done it. 650 people attended and about 50 of those were High School students which was the age that we took, along with a handful of college kids. Any way, we had an excellent weekend and saw God doing many powerful things in our students lives, along with one guy becoming a Christian. In general it was just a really fun weekend as there was plenty of time to hang out and have good fellowship with each other. We had a couple of gazebos set up with camp chairs under, and the best times were when all of us were under there just chatting and joking together.

Camp Bonnie Doone (aka Crusaders USA)

Wow! What an amazing week! And it was the first one we had ever done! Running much like Crusader Houseparty (early morning swims, morning groups, arts and crafts (although sadly no chocolate making Jane...!), siesta (a big hit with the leaders!), book reading, seminars (although they weren't optional), The Rag (of course! I will send you the videos once I have them! Very funny!),

Word of the day from The Redneck Rag duo 'Thunder & Lightnin''!

OC Games, Docco, and of course waitning at the door of the dining room to be let in by the Adjy (aka JB)! We had to change some of the timings as the camp wasn't flexible ontheir meal schedule (hopefully next year), but that allowed us to put in seminar time after Siesta, which was definitely a success. The kids had a choice of two, but had to go to one. Our padre were two married youth ministers from Vancouver (via Australia and the US...), Ken and Julie Moser, and they did an incredible job with the MGs, QTs and most importantly the evening meetings (a little longer

that CHPUK - 8-9.30pm). I was praying that we would have 40-50 people and 57 signed up in the end! We had an excellent leadership team of Junior and senior leaders which really helped make this go incredibly smoothly.

Morning leaders meeting

Shock at doing the room inspection and finding the boys cabins were tidy!

One game that needs to be introduced to Crusaders UK is kickball! This was definitely a big hit with the kids and leaders. Think rounders with a very soft football. You use your feet as the bat obviously!

Any way, it was an excellent week and I can't wait to have JK join us next year and see what he makes of it. I held off on doing our songs Jonny so that we can do them together next year!

You can see more photos at www.holycross.net/student.htm. Click on the Boonie Doone pix link.

There's loads more I can tell you, but I have to go...! God worked powerfully and we saw kids lives being changed. The feedback we have had from kids and parents has been incredibly positive, so here's to next year!

God bless,

Jonathan.

Good to hear from you and to see how God is blessing your ministry. Sounds like all the trips have been very good, although it must be hard running from one to the next! It must be nice to be home again!
Take care,
Andy

Hey Stino! Good to hear from you too. Hope you are having a fabulous summer. Whilst it has been busy, mine has certainly been a good one. How is life at COGS?

Busy! I've spent the last day building scenery for the Holiday Club (Old West Theme) all looks very good. EP is steadily growing, Fish Food is similarly. A pleasure to be involved, if hard work! Should really blog about it more...

MR JB! Great to have you back - have missed hearing your news, and although most of this post seems to have been written in some Americanised youth worker spiel (ie full of cunning abbreviations), I think I've worked out that you've had a wicked few weeks!! :-) How's the baby?

Jonathan (20.7.06 15:43)
Hey Mikey! Enjoyed reading all your stuff about Vancouver and Seattle. I've been invited to Vancouver by the speakers on our camp, so may visit this year sometime. Hannah is fabulous! We are making a little DVD ofher first year, so I will make sure I bring it to bore you with at Christmas.... The flights are booked by the way and we will back from Dec 21-Jan 2. I will be in London and Heswall at various stages hopefully so let's make sure we see each other again.

Hey Adj!!! I'm so thrilled to hear Crusaders USA went so well, it sounded wonderful! just had a look at your photos on the HC webpages too, i'm sure one of you looked like you're in 'adjy's office'! It all seems very easy to envisage, seems like a very blessed time! I'm very glad! though you were obviously lacking a chocolatier!
We have just one and a half weeks till CHPUK and very much looking forward to it... SV again for me, Michael and Kate Daymond....and something of a first afternoon that needs to be organised yet! We'll have to give you a full report in good time too...we are going to miss you very much!
love to Melissa and Hannah, God bless, Jane x

Hey JB, thanks for your emails. Man I am getting more and more excited now cos your camps and trips look and sound amazing - God is so good and looks like the young people have been having a ball hanging out with each other and Him.

I'm so pleased all your hard work and that of your leaders has really come off, i seiously can't wait for all this to begin!

Kickball sounds awesome, i may introduce that to camp this year, we introduced murderball/crusaderball was it last year and that was a hit. Thanks for holding off the songs - that will be so fun to do together "WHY!!!, is there something wrong with me!" lol

How did your trip to StJohns Island go?

I'll try and skype you today, sorry i missed you yesterday, didn't check my emails ergh!

Big love to you and your girls

Jonnyk

Hey Mum, Jane & JK! Thanks for your comments. Can't believe that Dad's time at the Minster is over. I am sure he is pleased, although maybe a little bit sad (just a little surely!). Janey - we need your chocolatiering skills next year. We will be missing you all very much too, but the flights are booked for Christmas so I will see you then. JK - can't wait to see you, and to sing our song (which you stole from someone else!). One of the High School kids calls it the emo song as they have heard it many times. Can't wait to do it next summer for teh Middle School kids. Skype me today. I'll be in the office all day.

That's look great that people would love to share their educational matters and experience on internet, this would be good for readers who must face again this issues in their projects.
